CMT Project Engineer

Role Summary

Froehling & Robertson, Inc. is hiring a mid-level engineer to lead construction materials testing (CMT) and special inspection projects across Central Virginia.

Responsibilities (including but not limited to) :

Manage large and / or multiple CMT projects involving soils, asphalt, concrete, and special inspections

Review reports, plans, drawings, specifications, and other project documentation

Adhere to project budgets, maintain records, and oversee testing and inspection schedules

Coordinate and communicate with contractors, clients, and internal teams

Provide frequent updates to clients and owners on project progress

Oversee and guide staff including engineers, technicians, special inspectors, and subcontractors

Apply standard engineering methods, techniques, and procedures during service delivery

Collaborate with engineers, technicians, and administrative personnel to ensure quality and efficiency

Manage multiple unrelated deadlines across concurrent projects

Prepare technical reports, letters, and documentation

Perform field inspections and testing of construction materials including soil, concrete, and asphalt

Active PE license (strongly preferred but not required)

Prior experience as a CMT Project Engineer or similar role
