The Business Intelligence and Data Management team at 1-800-FLOWERS.COM, Inc. has an exciting opportunity for a Director, Business Intelligence to help lead enterprise-wide analytics and data management initiatives.
In this role, you will bridge the gap between the BI stack and the business users to ensure effective delivery and adoption of BI solutions. You will champion data democratization, oversee BI operations, and drive a culture of insight-driven decision-making across the organization.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and Develop the Team : Manage a small team of BI professionals to execute both operational and strategic initiatives, fostering growth and continuous improvement.
- Strategic Partnership : Collaborate with senior leadership to plan, prioritize, and deliver enterprise-wide BI functionality aligned with business goals.
- Vendor Relationship Management : Serve as the primary point of contact for BI vendors, overseeing product implementations and enablement sessions.
- BI Advocacy and Enablement : Act as an on-site BI advocate, maximizing the value of BI tools, promoting user adoption, and ensuring stakeholder satisfaction.
- Platform Administration : Oversee BI server health, performance tuning, troubleshooting, diagnostics, and configuration management.
- Best Practices and Governance : Define and enforce BI platform standards, coding conventions, and security frameworks to ensure consistency and scalability.
- Data Democratization : Drive the expansion of self-service analytics capabilities and ensure equitable access to trusted data across the enterprise.
- Training and Engagement : Organize and host internal user sessions for education, enablement, and cross-functional collaboration.
- Technical Guidance : Provide documentation, sample code, and recommendations for efficient data access, SQL optimization, and database connectivity.
- Security and Access Control : Define and manage BI and data access security policies to ensure data integrity and compliance.
The expected salary range for this position is $160,000 -$180,000. The actual compensation will be determined by experience and other factors permitted by the law.

Education : Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Analytics, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).Leadership Experience : Proven experience managing BI or analytics teams and delivering large-scale BI solutions.Technical Expertise :Strong proficiency in SQL and relational database management systems.Hands-on experience with data warehouse platforms (Snowflake preferred).Working knowledge of Unix / Linux environments.Familiarity with reporting and visualization tools (e.g., Sigma, Power BI, Tableau, or Looker).Experience with scripting languages (e.g., PowerShell, Unix shell, Python, or R); familiarity with Scala a plus.Understanding of networking fundamentals (e.g., sockets, load balancers, process communication).Experience with enterprise job scheduling tools is desirable.Soft Skills :Strong communication and presentation skills; able to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.Exceptional organizational and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in an Agile environment.A customer-centric mindset and a passion for empowering teams through data.Preferred Attributes
Experience implementing or supporting enterprise BI platforms (e.g., Sigma, Power BI Service or Tableau Server).Familiarity with data governance frameworks and metadata management.Ability to influence at multiple levels and promote a culture of data-driven, self-service decision-making.Strong interest in emerging BI and data technologies.
