- Fridays : 11 : 35 AM – 6 : 05 PM
- Saturdays : 9 : 35 AM – 6 : 05 PM
- Mon‑Weds‑Thurs : 10 : 35 AM – 6 : 05 PM
Responsibilities
Assist patrons with selection of library materials and services.Explain use of online catalog and library classification system.Check books in and out for borrowing purposes, accept and collect fines, process new library accounts, and answer basic reference questions.Assist in processing new books, periodicals, and other printed materials.Shelve books and assist in the implementation of circulation procedures; provide recommendations for material selection; maintain online system data, files and other clerical records related to the library.Conduct bibliographic searches for interlibrary loan requests, process items to be picked up by courier, mend damaged materials, and keep library facilities clean and orderly.Assist other library staff with special library programs and services.Support the City in identifying and providing services to all community members and removing barriers to those services.Perform other duties as assigned.Qualifications
High school diploma or GED equivalent; one year of experience operating computers and providing customer service, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.Knowledge of library methods, procedures, practices, and terminology; basic English composition, spelling, arithmetic, Dewey Decimal classification, and library collection location.Techniques for providing a high level of customer service in person, in writing, and over the telephone.Basic computer skills : word processing, spreadsheets, database software, and graphic tools.Excellent written and oral communication; ability to interact effectively and tactfully with the public and staff.Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and adapt to changing priorities.Pre‑employment requirements : reference checks, background check, driving record check, and drug test.Benefits
