CMT Engineering Technician

NOVA Engineering is seeking a full-time CMT Engineering Technician for our Construction Materials Testing department in the Fort Lauderdale, FL metropolitan statistical area (MSA).

The individual will be responsible for the following:

• Field testing and inspections of soil, concrete, asphalt, aggregate, and masonry mortar/grout for compliance with ASTM, AASHTO, DOT, and/or project specifications.
• Review of blueprints in preparation of field observations on construction sites.
• Prepare detailed and accurate reports of findings and communicate results to project managers and clients.
• Daily use of Metafield for recording of testing results.
• Communication of field testing results with Construction Services staff, general contractors, and clients.
• Travel to job sites across the Miami-Fort Lauderdale metropolitan area.

Qualifications:

• 2+ years of experience in the Construction Materials Testing industry
• Certifications from the following entities are highly desirable: American Concrete Institute (ACI), Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT), International Code Council (ICC), NICET, or Post-tensioning Institute (PTI)
• ACI Concrete Field Testing Certification (Level 1) is required
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
• Willingness to work outdoors in varying weather conditions (Company will provide Personal Protective Equipment and inclement weather gear, as appropriate)
• Ability to work and maneuver equipment (such as a loaded wheelbarrow) on uneven ground and around active construction sites
• Willingness to travel out-of-town (typically overnight) for short duration assignments
