This position will support the agency's mission by maintaining and repairing highways, bridges, and related infrastructure to ensure public safety and transportation efficiency. It will involve the use of construction tools and equipment, performing vehicle inspections and maintenance, and working in diverse outdoor conditions. The position also requires effective communication, the ability to follow instructions, and collaboration with team members to complete tasks safely and efficiently.

A Competitive Area Differential (CAD) additive in the amount of $1,934.40 will be added to the annual salary.
Upon receipt of the required CDL Instructional Permit or License; Operates a variety of vehicles and mechanized equipment to include backhoe, tractors with attachments, crew cabs, and dump truck. Performs pre-trip inspection / minor maintenance on vehicles / equipment that they are operating. Cleans and washes equipment.
Uses a variety of hand, pneumatic, and electrical tools to maintain bridges and roadways. Performs independent manual labor incidental to job assignments at an intermediate level of complexity with minimal supervision.
Performs rough carpentry, masonry, painting and / or assist in the assembly and erection of highway signs.
Performs Maintenance of Traffic control.
Knowledge of typical construction measuring tools, equipment, or instruments and standard safety techniques.
Read and understand job-related materials and fill out reports and forms.
Maintain and repair highways, bridges and / or other highway structures.
Communicate both verbally and in writing, including following oral / written instructions.
Develop and maintain effective working relationships with others.
Lift, carry, and handle up to 50 pounds.
Stoop, climb, squat, push, pull, crawl or bend on a frequent basis.
Work outdoors in various weather conditions, on various terrains and at various heights or in high volume traffic.
Stand for an extended period of time, operate motor vehicles and other mechanical equipment.
Possess a valid Class (E) driver license with an acceptable driving record in accordance with the Department's Driver's Record Requirements Policy. An unacceptable driving record is defined as any of the following : three (3) or more moving violations in the past three (3) years that accumulate three (3) or more points per violation; any two (2) convictions of reckless driving in the past three (3) years; a suspension or revocation of the driver license for moving violations in the past three (3) years; and a suspension or revocation for refusal to take a sobriety test, or any suspension or revocation for a DUI conviction, in the past four (4) years.
