Overview
Our direct client is looking for a highly-motivated Controls Engineer to support the operation, design, and optimization of our advanced data center infrastructure. This Engineer will play a key role in maintaining the stability and efficiency of the systems that power groundbreaking AI research. The Controls Engineer will collaborate with cross-functional teams to monitor and improve the performance of the data center throughout its lifecycle. This individual will work closely with Operations and Maintenance to ensure the systems are running smoothly, from day-to-day management to long-term upgrades and expansions.

Responsibilities
- Execute the implementation and modification of Building Management System (BMS), Electrical Power Management System (EPMS), and other SCADA systems critical for the operation of current and future data centers
- Oversee the operation of critical systems such as chillers, pumps, and power distribution, utilizing Siemens TIA Portal PLC programming and Ignition SCADA to ensure efficient monitoring and control of all industrial processes
- Prepare specifications for Human-Machine Interface (HMI), including graphics standards for interpretation by LLM with focus on integration between Siemens PLCs and Ignition SCADA platforms
- Implement and maintain automated controls for fire safety and emergency shutdown procedures (ESOP) using Siemens PLCs and Ignition for real-time visualization and alerting
- Develop a corporate-level reporting dashboard to monitor operational trends such as power usage effectiveness (PUE) and performance / cost, and dynamically adjust infrastructure set points for optimal performance
- Coordinate with utility providers to automate demand and operational responses to upstream grid events, integrating Siemens PLC logic and Ignition SCADA automation for rapid, data-driven decisions
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in an Engineering discipline (Controls, Computer Control Systems, Computer Science, Mechatronic Engineering, Automation Engineering, or equivalent experience)5+ years of hands-on experience as a Controls Engineer working with industrial control systemsProven experience in Ignition SCADA programming, including designing, deploying, and maintaining SCADA solutions for large-scale, mission-critical environmentsExpertise in Siemens TIA Portal PLC programming, including configuration, troubleshooting, and optimization of Siemens PLC hardware and softwarePreferred Skills & Experience
Advanced proficiency in programming industrial equipment in IEC 61131-3 languages with focus on structured text and ladder logicExperience with industrial control hardware from leading manufacturers (e.g., Siemens, SEL, Rockwell)Familiarity with HMI / GUIs using platforms such as Ignition and SELMethodical troubleshooting approachStrong documentation and communication skillsTechnical project management mindsetTeam-player, takes initiative, and highly motivatedAdditional Requirements
