Field Service Technician – Boiler Systems (Remote, 75–80% Travel)

A leading manufacturer of high-quality boiler and thermal fluid heating systems is seeking an experienced Field Service Technician to join their growing service team. Position Overview
The Field Service Technician will perform installation, commissioning, start-up, troubleshooting, warranty work, and upgrade services on industrial boiler systems. This role requires strong boiler experience, excellent customer interaction skills, and the ability to work independently in the field.
Travel is a major component of the job, averaging 75–80% , including multi-week trips. International travel may include destinations across North America, South America, Africa, and Asia. A valid passport is strongly preferred.
Key Responsibilities
Perform field service tasks including installation, commissioning, start-up, troubleshooting, and repairs on industrial boiler systems.
Work with both mechanical and electrical components, including burner controls and pressure systems.
Connect to PLCs for diagnostic purposes and interpret system data.
Read and interpret mechanical and electrical drawings to guide work.
Lead contractors onsite and work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
Provide outstanding customer service and maintain professional conduct at all times.
Complete required documentation including service reports, expense reports, and root-cause analysis summaries.
Participate in remote technical support, staff meetings, and continuous improvement activities while working from home.
Adhere to all site safety requirements and support OSHA compliance.
Qualifications
Minimum 5 years of boiler experience required (4 years considered only in exceptional cases).
Strong understanding of burner control systems (e.g., Siemens Safeguard) and differential pressure switches.
Ability to connect to and read PLC systems. Training available for candidates with strong boiler backgrounds.
Proficiency with mechanical and electrical schematics.
Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work with minimal supervision.
Excellent communication and customer service skills.
Willingness to travel three weeks per month or more, including occasional weekend work.
Must live within 1.5 hours of a major airport .
Basic computer proficiency (Excel, Outlook, Microsoft Office).
Able to pass drug and alcohol screenings as required by customer sites.
OSHA safety training (OSHA 30) is a plus; training can be provided.
Experience with ASME standards or working with boiler inspectors is a strong plus.
Previous Navy boiler / steam experience is highly valued.
Compensation & Benefits
$40–$45 / hr based on experience (top of range requires strong technical skills).
Paid overtime .

Daily per diem ($65 / day, higher for international travel—often $100+ / day).
