The Department of Neurological Surgery's faculty members are committed to training the next generation of exceptional physician scientists while providing care to patients with a wide range of neurosurgical conditions at Orange County's academic medical center .

Your Role on the Team

Under the general direction of the Neurological Surgery Residency Program Director and / or Associate Program Director (PD / APD), the Residency Program Coordinator is involved in the designing, conducting, promoting, evaluating, and supporting health professional education programs in compliance with organizational objectives and nationally accepted accreditation standards and requirements. Supports trainees in areas such as curriculum, teaching, and learning activities, scheduling, core competencies, assessments, and evaluations. Coordinates all activities associated with ongoing administration of health professions education programs. Responsible for the administration of Neurological Surgery Residency Program. Responsible in achieving academic excellence through instructional support, learning technology, program and learner evaluations, institutional reporting on education, and accreditations and policy.

What It Takes to be Successful

Required :

  • Knowledge of department, organization, HR and university policies and processes. Current knowledge of relevant industry federal, state and local laws and regulations including national accrediting organizations and state and federal licensing and regulatory offices.
  • Knowledge of the health professions education industry, administrative analysis and operations research. Knowledge of assigned program requirements and curriculum.
  • Demonstrated conflict resolution skills to effectively guide and motivate others.
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize effectively to meet deadlines in a complex, challenging environment. Ability to share knowledge with team members in an efficient and effective manner.
  • Skills to evaluate issues and identify solutions within defined procedures and policies. Demonstrated ability to solve problems and suggest solutions through critical thinking process.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills with technical writing skills sufficient to compose a variety of scientific documents, reports, budgets and justifications which are clear, concise, logical and display syntax and grammar.
  • Ability to act independently with demonstrated problem-solving skills, multi-task and to follow through on assignments with minimal direction.
  • Excellent organizational skills, analytical, and demonstrated attention to detail. Ability to complete work and meet established deadlines in an accurate and timely manner, and to manage short and competing deadlines.
  • Ability to confirm and adjust to last minute schedule changes.
  • Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training
  • A minimum of 1 year of experience 1-2 years of related work experience

Special Conditions :

  • May require work outside of normal business hours.
