is 501(c)(3) nonprofit auxiliary that maintains three major facilities at San José State University in downtown San José, California.
These facilities include the Diaz Compean Student Union Building, the Provident Credit Union Event Center, and the Spartan Recreation and Aquatic Center.
The Student Union, Inc. functions as part of the Student Affairs Division on campus, and is governed by a Board of Directors made up of a student majority, faculty, and administrators.
Mission The Student Union, Inc. of San Jose State University supports the development, growth, and well-being of students and the campus community by providing diverse programs, desired services, and quality facilities to enhance the collegiate experience Job Summary The Guest Services Assistant is responsible for exhibiting excellent customer service and having an in-depth knowledge of all Student Union and Spartan Recreation programs.
This position oversees the SRAC front entry desk, equipment check-out desk and aquatic entry booth during operating hours and monitors facility access.
Under the direct supervision of the Membership & Guest Services Supervisor. Essential Functions and Tasks Responsible for monitoring student, member and guest entry and exit into the Spartan Recreation and Aquatic Center.
- Provide excellent customer service to all patrons who visit the SRAC. Working knowledge of the Fusion registration system;
- how the system functions with membership sales, locker sales, program registrations and reports. Perform daily financial transactions for SRAC programs, membership services, events;
completes financial reconciliations and deposits daily. Assist with guest concerns and issues. Assist with providing tours of the SRAC.
Assist with promotional events being held at SRAC, including but not limited to, tabling, special events, summer orientation, and more.
Attend all regularly scheduled staff meetings, training days, and workshops. Performs additional duties as assigned. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSAs) Strong customer service and interpersonal skills, ability to manage conflicts.
Able to lift 45 pounds safely and stand for an extended period of time. Maintain a professional appearance and attitude.
Qualification and Specifications Current First Aid / CPR / AED certification, American Red Cross preferred. Online certifications will not be accepted.
Must be a matriculated SJSU student and continuously enrolled at least half-time* during the academic term. *Half-time is defined as follows : Enrollment Status Half-time Units Undergraduate and Post baccalaureate Students 6.0-8.0 hours / semester
