Job Summary
Responsible for evaluating and determining the cost structure for manufacturing new medical products—ranging from complex finished device assemblies to precision components. This role plays a key part in enabling competitive, profitable quoting by defining manufacturing sequences, estimating run times, and identifying optimal raw materials and external services. The successful candidate will contribute to a world-class customer experience by delivering Design for Manufacturability (DFM) support and ensuring that technical requirements are well aligned with cost-effective production solutions. This position serves as a technical bridge between the customer, sales, engineering, and production, supporting Tegra Medical from prototype to full-scale production.
Role and Responsibilities
- Receive and review Requests for Quotes (RFQs), the customer's drawings and design to determine product manufacturability.
- Provide design for manufacturability (DFM) services to customers; conference and/or meet with customers on justified quotes to improve cost, quality and production efficiency.
- Create CAD solid models and/or drawings for internal use or DFM inputs as needed.
- Identify optimal Bill of Materials (BOM) including raw materials, components, and outsourced services to support product cost, specifications, and manufacturability. Source external quotes from suppliers.
- Collaborate with SME's, engineering, production, supply chain, sales, and quality teams to gather inputs for accurate quotations
- Generate costing operation routing with setup and cycle times; consult with Scheduling on lead time if necessary.
- As an output of the quoting effort, provide competitive manufacturing cost and lead time, as well as notes to communicate technical clarifications, assumptions, or exceptions.
- Send costing estimates to Sales for review, quote generation and submittal to customer in a timely manner.
- Field technical questions from customers, production personnel, Customer Care and Sales and help as needed.
- Play a key role in transitioning projects from quoting to production, ensuring alignment with cost targets and operational readiness.
Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience in manufacturing, cost estimating, or process engineering—preferably in the medical device or precision manufacturing sector.

- Strong understanding of manufacturing processes native to Tegra Medical's core business.
- Working knowledge of raw materials (e.g., stainless steel, plastics, titanium) and secondary processes (e.g., anodizing, coating, heat treating).
- Proficient in interpreting engineering drawings, GD&T, and product specifications.
- Excellent analytical and communication skills with a customer-focused mindset.
- Experience with ERP and quoting systems.
- Professionalism in your communications, poise, tact and diplomacy as well as the ability to work in a flexible and rapidly changing environment is a must.
