Accounting Specialist

We are seeking a detail-oriented Accounting Specialist to manage accurate and timely invoicing based on contract milestones, deliverables, or time and materials. The ideal candidate will have a keen eye for detail and the ability to interpret complex contracts and agreements.

Responsibilities

Review and interpret customer contracts, agreements, and change orders to extract billing terms, payment schedules, and invoicing requirements.

Verify billing rates, discounts, retention, and other pricing elements outlined in contracts.

Coordinate with legal, sales, project management, and finance teams to resolve ambiguities or discrepancies in contracts and billing data.

Maintain detailed documentation of billing logic, supporting schedules, and customer communications.

Track billing schedules, renewals, and contract modifications to ensure accuracy throughout the contract lifecycle.

Collaborate with the accounts payable team to ensure alignment between customer invoicing, vendor payments, and overall project financials.

Support audits and compliance reviews by providing contract, billing, and payment documentation.

Help maintain and improve billing policies, contract review procedures, and contract-to-invoice processes.

Respond to client inquiries regarding invoices, billing disputes, or payment issues in a professional and timely manner.

Essential Skills

Proficiency in invoicing and invoice processing.

Experience with accounts payable and accounts receivable.

Strong experience in billing and payment discrepancies resolution.

Contract review and interpretation skills.

Familiarity with accounting and billing systems like D365.

Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.

Excellent multitasking and communication skills.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field.

24 years of experience in billing, contract administration, or accounts payable / receivable, ideally in a project-based or recurring revenue environment.

Proven experience in contract review and interpretation.

High attention to detail, especially regarding numerical accuracy and legal or contractual terms.

Ability to work cross-functionally and manage multiple billing cycles, contracts, and payment processes simultaneously.

This position is onsite, providing an opportunity to work closely with a dynamic team. The company has experienced significant growth, having doubled in size over the last seven years, creating a vibrant and expanding work environment.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of New Lenox, Illinois.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $29.00 - $31.00 / hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
