Our client near Bayfield, WI is seeking a controller for a 6-9 month project need. As the controller, you will lead key financial operations during a transitional period. This role will focus on enhancing financial management by streamlining accounting processes, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, and establishing robust internal controls and policies.

Key Responsibilities :

Review and reconcile current financial records to ensure accuracy and completeness.

Oversee timely preparation of financial reports in compliance with GAAP, tribal, state, and federal regulations.

Develop and implement standardized accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls.

Provide leadership and mentorship to the accounting team, ensuring effective knowledge transfer and operational continuity.

Assess accounting systems and recommend process improvements for greater efficiency and data integrity.

• Proven experience in financial management, including month-end and year-end close processes.
• Strong knowledge of US GAAP and GAAP accounting principles.
• Proficiency in financial reporting and balance sheet reconciliation.
• Experience with process documentation and improving accounting operations.
• Familiarity with Sage Intacct or similar financial systems.
• Background in hospitality management is preferred but not required.
• Excellent leadership and mentorship skills to guide and develop accounting teams.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work effectively in an onsite setting.
