Summary
GENERAL SUMMARY :
Responsible for meeting patient priority needs by assessing, participating in interdisciplinary care planning, providing and / or delegating care and evaluating patient responses and progress toward clinical outcomes. Contributes to an efficient and effective work environment through activities including professional communication and documentation, precepting and / or resourcing of others.
Supervises Licensed Practical Nurses and / or other support staff in the delivery of patient care as described in Nebraska Statute 38.
PRINCIPAL JOB FUNCTIONS :
- Commits to the mission, vision, beliefs and consistently demonstrates our core values.
- Initiates assessment and reassessment based on the patients presenting problems / needs in accordance with Bryan Medical Centers procedures.
- Synthesizes pertinent initial and ongoing patient data to identify nursing priorities for care and desired outcomes / goals.
- Integrates appropriate standards of care into the patients plan of care based on the diagnosis and patient-specific needs.
- Executes therapeutic and / or supportive interventions.
- Provides education for the patient and family to meet identified patient needs according to their needs, abilities, preferences and readiness to learn.
- Evaluates the patients response to and effectiveness of interventions.
- Evaluates patients progress toward established outcomes.
- Incorporates cultural considerations into the plan / delivery of care.
- Includes family, significant other, or identified support person in the care of the patient as appropriate.
- Documents patient care and related information according to Bryan Medical Center procedures for documentation.
- Provides care in collaboration with other members of the interdisciplinary team.
- Facilitates patients transition to the next level of care.
- Assumes responsibility in a shared or delegated assignment and supports team members practices through timely communication.
- Serves as a role model to colleagues, students and other care providers.
- Actively participates in continued learning opportunities and continued self-development pertinent to the work unit and duties of the job.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE :
Current Registered Nurse licensure from the State of Nebraska or approved compact state of residence as defined by the Nebraska Nurse Practice Act. Must provide evidence of certification and / or instruction for practice area as required by State or Federal standards / regulations.
OTHER CREDENTIALS / CERTIFICATIONS :
Basic Life Support (CPR) certification required. Bryan Health recognizes American Heart Association (for healthcare professionals), American Red Cross (for healthcare professionals) and the Military Training Network.
