Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med / Surg Neuro unit night shift position requiring a NE or compact RN license and strong neuro / telemetry experience.
Responsibilities
Work in an acute care hospital setting on the 4th Floor North Med / Surg Neuro unitPatient population includes Med / Surg, neuro, post-neurosurgery, stroke, and telemetry overflow casesUnit has 25 beds with nurse-to-patient ratios of 1 : 5-6Heparin, lidocaine, and ketamine drips are titrated; PCA pumps are usedMechanical lifts are available in every other roomRNs will work 12-hour night shifts and are scheduled every other weekendHoliday coverage required for 2-3 holidays from Thanksgiving to New Year'sFloating to other medical surgical units or to units with Med / Surg patients may be requiredEPIC is used for charting; experience preferred but not requiredUnit focuses on high patient turnover with frequent admissions and dischargesStrong teamwork, attendance, and patient-first attitude are essential for successTele techs are present; RNs must have basic telemetry awareness but are not required to interpret strips2 days of unit-specific orientation providedNavy blue scrubs are requiredArtificial nails are prohibited for all patient care staffUnit serves a culturally diverse patient populationFirst-time travelers with strong experience will be consideredCandidates must live at least 50 miles from the facility as verified by driver's licenseRequirements
Active NE or compact RN license required at time of consideration; pending licenses not acceptedMinimum of 2 years RN experience in a similar settingBLS (AHA) and NIHSS certifications requiredDriver’s license required to verify address for radius complianceMust pass a unit-specific open book skills exam during orientation with a minimum score of 90%No prior direct employment (full time, part time, PRN) with any CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity Health facility within the past yearNo license or background violations acceptedBenefits
