Custodial Worker - 64082786
Provides custodial care to Florida Department of Health to which this employee is assigned for the purpose of maintaining the facility in a clean, safe, and sanitary condition according to pre-established criteria.
Required duties include, but are not limited to :
- Maintain all washrooms in a clean, safe, and sanitary condition including floors, sinks, counters, mirrors, toilets, and urinals. Replenish supplies to include paper towels, toilet tissue, and soap.
- Sweep and damp mop all assign resilient floor areas on a daily basis.
- Remove gum, tar, etc., and scrub, polish, strip and spot wax as required.
- Vacuum all assigned carpeted areas on a daily basis.
- Spot clean carpet stains as required.
- Shampoo and extract carpets as required.
- Empty all wastebaskets, trash cans, and bio-hazardous receptacles on an as needed basis, but no less than daily.
- Deposit all refuse, except bio-hazardous waste, to outside dumpster. Store all bio-hazardous waste in designated storage area and / or container.
- Clean, wash, and sanitize all sinks, counters drinking water fountains, public telephones, lunchroom tables, etc., on a daily basis.
- Maintain all soap containers and paper towel dispensers at a reasonable level.
- Clean dust, damp wipe, and / or vacuum, all waiting room and lunchroom furniture as required.
- Polish all metal / chrome furniture and equipment in common areas as required. Clean and polish all interior windows / mirrors and entrance doors as required. Defrost and clean the interior and exterior of refrigerators.
- Check equipment to maintain clean and in good working conditions and report any damages to the supervisor. Responsible to ensure that all federal, state, and local safety standards are followed to prevent injury to staff, patients, and guests of the health facility.
- Exterior grounds parking lot / building surrounding, pick up debris, replace liners, hose down building entrances and walkways as required; cleaning outside benches and tables daily.
- Assist the moving of equipment and furniture, and correct the physical configurations of furniture in halls, auditoriums, waiting areas, and conference rooms as needed.
- Responsible for the unlocking and locking of facility doors and fence gates as required by the position and requested by the supervisor and the securing of all areas off limits to patients and staff.
- Other related duties as requested.
Minimum qualifications include :
Willing to work before, during, and / or beyond normal work hours or days in the event of an emergency.Able to respond to emergencies 24 hours a day every 4-6 weeks as a part of a rotating team.Experience with buffer and stripping machines.Must be able to work in different shifts per agency needs.Valid driver's license and willing to drive multiple locations throughout the workday.Experience as a custodial worker in a public health setting.Able to work occasional weekends as determined by program needs.Current employee of Florida Department of Health.Preferred qualifications include :
Custodial experience including selecting chemicals and the proper dilution to perform custodial assignments.Able to work an evening shift (2 : 00pm-10 : 30pm).Experience working with cleaning schedules.Experience working with commercial cleaning equipment such as : restroom cleaning machines, outdoor litter vacuums, etc.A minimum of (2) or more years of experience as a custodial worker.The benefits of working for the State of Florida include :
