Accountant

Accountant Position

We are looking for an experienced accountant to join our team in Greenwich, Connecticut. This contract to potential long-term position offers an opportunity to manage diverse financial activities while ensuring compliance and accuracy across multiple funding sources and budgets. The ideal candidate will bring a strong understanding of accounting principles and possess the ability to work independently in a dynamic environment.

Responsibilities :

Manage general ledger entries, ensuring accuracy in posting journal entries and reconciling trial balances.

Prepare and oversee the generation of quarterly financial reports, and lead month-end and year-end closing processes.

Supervise accounts payable operations, including reviewing invoice coding and maintaining the chart of accounts.

Ensure compliance with regulations related to donation and grant accounting, as well as endowment tracking.

Support external audits by providing necessary documentation and maintaining organized financial records.

Handle accounting activities for budgets of varying sizes, including managing filings and reports.

Develop and maintain strong accounting structures to accommodate multiple funding streams.

Collaborate on the preparation of financial statements and assist in budgeting and financial analysis.

Demonstrate adaptability in managing new tasks and responding to changes within the financial framework.

Requirements :

Proficient in accounting software such as QuickBooks Online, Sage, and Microsoft Dynamics.

Solid understanding of accounting principles and experience managing charts of accounts.

Background in endowment and donation accounting is required.

Experience in audit preparation and handling compliance filings.

Skilled in posting journal entries and coding invoices accurately.

Ability to work independently while maintaining effective communication with stakeholders.

Comfortable managing complex funding structures and budgets; public sector experience is preferred.

Strong organizational skills and attention to detail in managing financial data.
