Title : Structural Designer 3

JOB DUTIES :
- Prepare and modify scantling drawings.
- Perform detailed design / drafting of marine craft structures, plans, and outfitting for new shipbuilding and repair / conversion.
- 2D structural design with AutoCAD.
- 3D structural modeling with FORAN or Ship Constructor.
- Prepare assembly drawings, profile plots, and nests.
- Extracting views from the 3D model and preparing 2D drawings from those.
- Preparing change documents for various changes driven by program, production, client, or engineering.
- Providing solutions to complex structural and shipbuilding problems that arise daily in production, working in conjunction with other members of the team.
- Work closely with the specific supervisor to work efficiently towards meeting the schedule.
- Act as a mentor to designers I and II.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE :
An associate degree in drafting, engineering technology, or similar fields of study is preferred but not required.5-10 years of experience in a ship-design / shipbuilding environment.Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, AutoCAD, and adobe pdf.Experienced in ship structural design and drawings.Familiarity with 3D modeling software and learning new software as necessary.Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.Experience with ABS / USCG rules is highly desired but not required. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.Must be US Citizen or Permanent Resident.J-18808-Ljbffr
