Manager, Financial Aid Processing & Awarding
The Manager of Financial Aid File Processing and Awarding is responsible for leading and growing a team of Financial Aid Officers while also serving as a working manager to process student files. The role models and maintains compliance with financial aid operation and maintains program integrity of all financial aid programs.
Responsibilities :
Management and Supervision - 70%
- Oversee daily activity of team of FA Officers and related operations to maximize achievement of individual and team objectives.
- Build and develop team of FA Officers; responsible for performance management and hiring of direct reports, including on-boarding, training, development, cross-training of direct reports.
- Serve as a subject matter expert in financial aid.
- Provide complex problem resolution to team members and customers and when necessary, escalate highly unique or complex issues to the Director, as appropriate.
- Serve as a working manager and assists team, when needed, to reach the goals of the department, including file processing, awarding and resolving unpaid aid issues.
- Devise and execute new methods and strategies to reach challenging goals and persists until individual and team objectives are achieved.
- Keep abreast of and maintain strict adherence to all institutional, governmental and accreditation policies and regulations, and codes of conduct at all times.
- Foster and nurture inter and intra-departmental relationships within the organization to include effective and timely communications and problem resolution in addition to identifying and recommending process improvement opportunities.
- Assist in the development of process mapping / communication to assist in improving department efficiencies.
- Assist with the preparation and support of internal and external audits / visits during which financial aid records are reviewed.
- Possess a high level of integrity in all interactions with students and employees by showing a regard for both the stated expectation of the policy as well as its intent.
- Lead by example, demonstrating a sincere, positive, collaborative attitude towards completing tasks and achieving individual, team, and organizational goals.
- Apply fundamental awareness of the organizational culture and general knowledge of how to accomplish and complete tasks through appropriate and accurate channels
- Demonstrate and able to explain general understanding of the reasoning behind key organizational policies, practices, and procedures, and ability to assist new employees with their comprehension and demonstration of said policies, practices, and procedures.
- Demonstrate a comprehensive knowledge of the Office of Financial Aid. The Manager will have a good understanding of the actions taken with the student financial aid file and how it impacts the student and other education unit departments.
- Work collaboratively with others regarding financial aid applications, awards, communication and disbursement of state and federal financial aid programs as well as to calibrate workloads with other Managers throughout the quarter as needed.
File Processing and Awarding - 25%
Remain current on financial aid rules, regulations and requirements in the delivery of student aid through membership and participation in professional financial aid organizations, training and reading industry updates.Provide exceptional customer service via multiple mediums (phone, email, chat), with a focus on single-source service and by adhering to pre-defined service standards.Responsible for the overall maintenance of all electronic financial aid records through accurate verification of information and data entry.Other - 5%

The Manager of Financial Aid File Processing and Awarding reports directly to the Director of Financial Aid Processing and Awarding. The role manages, supervises and directs the work of several Financial Aid Officers and Senior Financial Aid Officers.
Requirements :
Associate degree required; Bachelor's degree preferred.Minimum of one year of prior management and / or combination of "lead" responsibility of direct reports preferred.Three to five years of experience, with increasing responsibilities, in financial aid with a strong command of federal financial aid regulations and compliance requirements.Exceptional customer service skills, and belief in single-source service.Excellent oral and written communication skills.Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).Ability to develop diverse and successful teams, think strategically, and provide thoughtful leadershipKnowledge of financial aid regulations.Ability to understand and implement policies and procedures.Understanding of higher education learning structure and purposeProven ability to foster positive, collaborative, solutions-oriented teamwork.Results oriented, motivational approach that embraces and drives change in a fast-paced environment.Strong command of the English language, both oral and in writing.High degree of independence within agreed policies and regulations.Excellent organization and time management skills with ability to prioritize and work with minimal supervision.Detail oriented with the ability to handle multiple priorities, meet deadlines and maintain flexibility in a fast-paced work environment.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.High level of professional ethics and etiquette.Experience in the for-profit educational setting preferred.About Us :
