Job description

Certification Details BLS Illinois RN License Job Details Member of interdisciplinary team providing and managing patient care using nursing process. Promotes evidence-based practice through nursing protocols and procedures. Assesses patient status via interview, observation, and physical assessment. Develops individualized care plans collaboratively with patient / family and healthcare team. Uses appropriate interventions to achieve expected patient outcomes. Evaluates and documents patient progress throughout shift. Modifies care plans based on patient condition changes. Completes required documentation including patient charts and event reports. Demonstrates professional accountability and seeks resources for self-development. Demonstrates technical knowledge of equipment and troubleshooting. Maintains current knowledge and skills in evidence-based nursing practice. Promotes professional development of self and team members. Shares clinical knowledge through informal teaching. Demonstrates problem-solving in patient moving and handling. Promotes patient and staff safety using lift equipment. Obtains lab specimens and performs bedside lab testing with quality control. Coordinates interdisciplinary patient care through collaboration. Analyzes clinical situations systematically and obtains resources as needed. Recognizes need for assistance and utilizes resources timely. Assumes assignment of non-complex and some complex patient management. Prioritizes work based on patient condition and assignment changes. Utilizes team resources to solve problems or needs. Collaborates with healthcare team to organize patient care tasks from admission to discharge. Delegates tasks appropriately to team members. Provides goal-focused shift report. Advocates with physicians on patient's behalf when necessary. Utilizes communication and teamwork strategies to promote high team performance and optimal patient outcomes. Chooses appropriate communication style and gives / accepts constructive feedback. Assesses and chooses teaching strategies appropriate to patient's / family's age-specific needs. Adapts teaching strategies based on patient's response and comprehension. Considers cultural, age-specific, gender, and developmental factors in patient education. Ensures patient safety by following policies and National Patient Safety Goals. Consults hospital resources for specialized education. Utilizes SVI patient education system for patients and families. Participates in data collection, analysis, and problem solving for performance improvement. Ensures care is consistent with standards, evidence-based practices, and quality initiatives. Works with interdisciplinary team to identify opportunities for patient care improvement. Promotes and achieves customer satisfaction among patients, families, and staff. Participates in performance improvement initiatives and follows up on patient / family needs. Encourages coworkers to achieve excellent customer satisfaction. Serves on unit-based councils and identifies practice problems. Implements changes in clinical practice based on literature and unit outcomes. Works on assigned projects, data collection, and audits. Job Requirements Current Illinois RN licensure required. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required. Schedule Information Contract length : 13 weeks. Unit Specific Information Specialty : Critical Care Medical ICU (CMH ICU 8P).
