Job Description
Under the direction of the Logistics Quality Supervisor, coordinates quality and food safety programs and verifies documentation outlined in the Quality Monitoring Schemes and HACCP Plans. Serves as Logistics SQF Practitioner, maintaining HACCP and QMS programs. The individual in this role has oversight of Hold Program, Logistics Quality Programs, Returned goods process, and product traceability. This individual will also support the Logistics operation with Quality / Food Safety related SOP review / development and training needs. Will coordinate Logistics internal quality / food safety audits for Logistics operations.
Responsibilities
- Serves as Logistics backup SQF Practitioner. Coordinates and assures Food Safety and Quality Programs are implemented and properly documented.
- Oversee Finished Goods Hold program to verify appropriate quantities and items are held. Monitors holds and disposition process daily.
- Monitor landfill disposal / destruction products and documentation.
- Conducts and supports audits to include : performing Food Safety, Quality, GMP, Allergen inspections and audits to ensure quality programs and documentation are consistently performed. Supports internal and external audits of the QMS and integrated quality systems. Interacts with State, Local and Third- Party Auditors when plant audits are scheduled.
- Provide Quality oversight of 3rd party programs.
- Oversight of Food Safety Corrective Actions, Returned Goods Process, GMPs, and Master Sanitation Schedule.
- In conjunction with Document Control, assures that only the most current and approved versions of these control documents (SOPs, specifications, data collections forms, etc.) are available.
- Inspects (and samples as needed) incoming ingredients, packaging components and processing aids according to established sampling plans and written procedures. Assures incoming items are properly labelled and shipments are intact.
- Oversees Positive Release Program and Corrective Action program for ingredients, packaging components, and processing aids. Works with Buyers and Supplier Quality to assure suppliers adhere to Wells specifications requirements and resolves issues arising from OOS ingredients / components. Assures only released items are transferred to plants for use. Point person for ingredient issuers with regard to SQF compliance.
Qualifications
Associates degree in Biology, Microbiology and / or Food Science degree or demonstrated experience with food or nutritional products manufacturing and / or quality programs required.Must have or obtain SQF Practitioner Certification within six months of entering the position.Additional certifications to be obtained required after hire (if not available) :PCQIHACCPInternal AuditingFood Defense / Intentional AdulterationDemonstrated experience in food or dairy product manufacturing or FDA / USDA regulated storage facility. Refrigerated / frozen transport familiarity.Demonstrated experience with FDA / USDA for warehousing product / item storage, handling and distribution.Strong understanding of Quality Assurance principles and auditing procedures, SQF requirements.Knowledge of Oracle operating systems in production and WMS environment a plus.Knowledgeable in the areas of safe work practices and GMPs.Previous experience with effective planning and scheduling and procedure writing.Skills - Demonstrated leadership skills (creating effective teams, driving change, managing accountability).Strong problem solving and decision-making skills.Good attention to detail and ability to prepare and give written and oral instructions.Multi-project / multi-tasking capability.Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint).Demonstrated ability in fundamental mathematical skills. Ability to establish strong relationships with other departments.Differentiate between competing demands and establish priorities as needed.Organize and coordinate multiple tasks and work under time pressure to meet deadlines.Ability to work with limited supervision.Communicate clearly and effectively, both orally and written at all levels internal and external.Travel requirements :Local WEI and 3PL facilities : yes, as needed
