Join our dynamic Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) Group as we seek an experienced Operational Risk Management Officer to shape and enhance our Second Line Operational Risk function. This pivotal role demands significant banking industry experience, a robust understanding of risk management practices, and a talent for cross-functional collaboration. Your ability to foster partnerships and influence stakeholders will be critical to driving improved risk management results.
Key Responsibilities :
- Lead the enterprise-wide management of operational risk by executing and evolving the Operational Risk Program;
- Maintain and update Program documentation and internal procedures appropriately;
- Oversee the intake process and facilitate root cause analysis of reported operational loss incidents, ensuring prompt escalation and effective remediation;
- Assist in conducting risk and control self-assessments (RCSAs) across various lines of business and support functions;
- Develop, monitor, and share operational key risk indicators (KRIs) to assess operational risk within the context of the Bank's risk appetite, identifying emerging trends when necessary;
- Conduct scenario analyses and other cross-functional exercises to evaluate operational risks and controls;
- Act as a subject matter expert (SME) on operational risk, staying updated on industry and regulatory changes;
- Contribute significantly to the Bank's Enterprise Risk Management Program, governance policies, and our Governance, Risk & Compliance (GRC) framework;
- Prepare materials for management and Board-level committees as required;
- Provide informed challenge and strategic guidance on operational risk matters during ad hoc engagements with internal stakeholders;
- Proactively seek opportunities to minimize operational losses, enhance control effectiveness, and optimize risk-taking returns, leveraging stakeholder influence.
- Analyze complex data sets to identify trends, resolve issues, and implement process improvements;
- Manage issue resolution to address identified control weaknesses and oversee execution;
- Design and deliver training sessions and materials to enhance our culture of operational risk management, fortifying the corporate control environment;
- Act as the primary contact for insurance-related matters, encompassing commercial, fidelity, property, casualty, workers' compensation, and additional policies;
- Coordinate with internal and external partners to finalize annual insurance renewal applications for the organization and its subsidiaries;
- Manage the tracking of necessary policy endorsements to ensure comprehensive coverage for the organization;
- Oversee claims management, from carrier notification to reimbursement, in collaboration with legal counsel when appropriate;
- Support mergers and acquisitions by handling necessary insurance policy cancellations, consolidations, amendments, and related documentation.

Qualifications :
Minimum of 10 years of operational or enterprise risk experience in a retail banking environment, preferably with a mid-sized bank;At least 4 years of experience in building or maintaining risk programs (operational risk, enterprise risk, third-party risk, model risk, compliance, etc.);5+ years of experience in the commercial insurance sector;Familiarity with professional liability, management liability, D&O, and cyber liability policies is preferred;Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience (4 additional years without a degree is acceptable);Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint;Demonstrated ability to utilize data and technology to enhance risk management outcomes;Understanding of operational risk modeling concepts and methodologies;Exceptional interpersonal skills, capable of adapting communication styles to a diverse range of stakeholders;Ability to engage multiple stakeholders, securing their support and consensus;Strong investigative abilities, complemented by refined analytical, writing, and decision-making skills;Demonstrated sound judgment, inquisitive nature, and attention to detail;Highly organized with the capability to handle multiple tasks and priorities efficiently.This is an equal opportunity position.
