Position Overview
Are you an experienced instructional designer passionate about building performance-based learning experiences? We are seeking a seasoned Instructional Designer to join a high-impact team supporting the National Wildfire Coordinating Group (NWCG) at the Bureau of Land Management (BLM). This full-time, on-site role in Boise, Idaho, supports learning and development initiatives critical to the Wildland Fire community.
You'll apply your expertise using the ADDIE model, with an emphasis on Analysis and Evaluation, to help transform complex content into effective, engaging, and mission-aligned training programs.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct task and learner analyses, stakeholder interviews, and training needs assessments
- Develop measurable learning objectives aligned with performance outcomes
- Design instructional strategies, content maps, storyboards, and assessment blueprints
- Develop instructor-led, e-learning, and hybrid training materials
- Support training delivery via LMS platforms and facilitate train-the-trainer sessions
- Evaluate training effectiveness using Kirkpatrick Levels 1 and 2 and recommend improvements
Qualifications
Required :
Bachelor's degree in instructional design, education, or a related fieldMinimum 10 years of experience in Instructional Systems Design (ISD)Demonstrated success designing performance-based learning experiencesProficiency working with SMEs, project managers, and diverse stakeholdersAbility to pass a background / suitability investigationStrong understanding of job task analysis and adult learning theoryPreferred :
Experience with Wildland Fire, Military, or DOD training environmentsFamiliarity with Kirkpatrick Training Evaluation Model (Levels 1–4)Experience supporting training delivery via LMS and multimedia toolsNote : demonstrated experience must match requirements for consideration.
