Position : Project Manager – Greenfield Pharmaceutical / Regulated Industries
Location : Waukegan, IL (Up to 50% Travel Across the Midwest)
Duration : 36+ Months
I am looking for an experienced Project Manager to support a major multi-year capital program within the pharmaceutical, cGMP, and FDA-regulated sector . This is an impactful opportunity to lead large-scale Greenfield construction projects ($10M–$500M) from concept through commissioning.
This position requires strong onsite leadership, excellent communication skills, and the ability to oversee complex technical programs in regulated environments.
What You Will Do
- Lead and manage Greenfield capital projects from initiation through commissioning and turnover
- Ensure compliance with cGMP, FDA, and internal quality standards
- Coordinate with engineering, operations, facilities, EHS, and external contractors
- Oversee procurement, subcontractor management, workflow schedules, and construction plans
- Identify and mitigate project risks early to maintain budget and schedule
- Communicate updates and milestones to senior leadership and key stakeholders
- Travel up to 50% across the U.S. Midwest to support onsite execution
What You Bring
12–20+ years managing capital construction projects in pharma, biotech, regulated food, or heavy industrial environmentsDegree in Construction Management Engineering , or related fieldProfessional certifications ( PE, PMP, AIA ) strongly preferredDeep experience managing multi-disciplinary, large-scale ($10M–$500M) projectsStrong leadership, communication, and decision-making capabilitiesAbility to thrive in fast-paced, highly regulated environmentsWillingness to travel (up to 50%)Greenfield construction from concept to commissioningcGMP and FDA compliance in construction environmentsCoordination with AE firms, commissioning teams, and third-party contractorsWhy Sterling Engineering?
