POSITION OBJECTIVE
The Catering Sales Manager is responsible for driving revenue by selling and managing weddings, day meetings, and assigned meeting territories. This role develops new accounts, grows existing business, and collaborates with operations and culinary teams to ensure seamless events that exceed client expectations and support departmental profitability.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Plan, sell, and coordinate details for weddings, day meetings, and group events to achieve revenue goals.
- Prepare accurate and detailed Banquet Event Orders (BEOs), ensuring effective communication of updates to all departments.
- Maximize revenue through upselling of food, beverage, room rental, recreation, and amenities.
- Actively prospects and solicits new contacts and business opportunities for meetings
- Acts as on-site contact for meeting and meeting groups and larger groups as needed
- Follow up with client contact at the end of each meeting to ensure satisfaction and obtain feedback
- Actively prospect and solicit new business opportunities while maintaining strong relationships with existing clients.
- Respond to potential and existing clients within 24 hours.
- Serve as the primary on-site contact for assigned events, ensuring seamless execution and client satisfaction.
- Prepare billing, contracts, invoices, and master accounts accurately and in a timely manner.
- Complete weekly backlog reports, pipeline activity, and other sales-related reports as required.
- Participate in weekly meetings, training programs, and departmental initiatives to support team and property goals.
- Conduct post-event follow-ups to ensure satisfaction, resolve issues, and build long-term client relationships.
- Support the Director of Sales & Marketing with special projects and assignments as needed.
- Perform additional duties as assigned to support departmental and property success.
EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE
3 years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience in a hotel or related field preferred.REQUIREMENTS
Must be able to effectively communicate both verbally and written with all level of employees and guests in an attentive, friendly, courteous and service oriented manner.Must be effective at listening to, understanding, and clarifying concerns raised by employees and guests.Attend all hotel required meetings and trainings.Maintain regular attendance in compliance with Salamander Hotels & Resorts Standards, as required by scheduling.Maintain high standards of personal appearance and grooming.Must be able to maintain confidentiality of information.Must be able to show initiative, including anticipating guest or operational needsPerform other duties as requested by management.Must be able to multi-task, prioritize, and meet deadlines.Extensive knowledge of food and beverage pricing, proper preparation and presentation of food and beverage items.Extensive knowledge of meeting room capacities, banquet set-up, audio-visual and any other pertinent details as they relate to function room set-up.Knowledge of resort and competitive market.Must possess computer skills, including, but not limited to, accounting programs, Microsoft Word, Excel, and Amadeus-Delphi.Excellent interpersonal and sales-related skills.Exceptional organizational skills.PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Must be able to sit at a desk for up to five (5) hours per day. Walking and standing are required the rest of the working day. This includes traveling to and from meetings. Length of time of these tasks may vary from day to day and task to task.Long hours are sometimes required.Must be able to exert well-paced ability to maneuver between functions occurring simultaneously.Must be able to lift up to 15 lbs. occasionally.Requires grasping, writing, standing, sitting, walking, repetitive motions, listening and hearing ability and visual acuity.Talking and hearing occur continuously in the process of communicating with guests, supervisors, and other employees.WORK ENVIRONMENT
