American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Telemetry / ED Hold position requiring strong cardiac telemetry skills and an active AZ or Compact RN license.
\n \n Responsibilities\n
Work in the ED Holds / Telemetry unit within an acute care Level 1 trauma centerPatient population includes ED holds awaiting placement, primarily medical-surgical and telemetry casesNurse-to-patient ratio is 1 : 4Required to titrate cardiac drips such as Cardizem, Heparin, and AmiodaroneNurses are responsible for reading and interpreting telemetry strips; no monitor technicians present12-hour night shifts, with 4 weekend shifts in a 4-week scheduleMust work 2 of 4 major holidays, rotating with permanent staffFloating is required to med / surg, telemetry, overflow, and both associated EDs as neededUses Cerner EMR system; prior experience preferredNo ventilator management requiredED PCTs are available for additional unit supportWill care for ED patients awaiting hospital admission, focusing on telemetry management and titrating dripsMay assist ED staff with tasks such as vital signs, IV starts, and medication administration (no primary ED assignments)Unit orientation includes two shifts on Med / Surg / Tele at the primary campusRequired to wear navy scrubs as dress codeHoliday shifts and first-to-float assignments are requiredRNs must live at least 50 miles from the facility for travel rate eligibility if residing in AZ, NV, NE, IA, or MNFirst-time travelers with strong MS / Tele experience are encouraged to apply\n \n Requirements\n
Active AZ or Compact RN license required at time of considerationMinimum 2 years of recent cardiac telemetry nursing experience within the past 6 monthsCurrent ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications from AHA or APEX are requiredMust pass a dysrhythmia exam via Relias (maximum 2 attempts within 48 hours of offer)Pass / Fail SIM Lab (Sterile technique test for Foley and central line dressing changes) required on the first orientation dayAbility to independently titrate and decrease cardiac drips per physician ordersStrong skills in reading / interpreting telemetry strips are requiredMust provide two references : one supervisor within the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor within the last 3 yearsCopy of driver’s license required for considerationMay not have been employed by CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity in the past year\n Benefits\n
