Job Description\n

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for an ED Hold / Telemetry position requiring strong cardiac telemetry skills and an active AZ or compact RN license.

\n \n Responsibilities\n

  • Work in the ED Holds / Telemetry unit within an acute care setting
  • Patient population consists primarily of ED holds awaiting inpatient placement, with higher acuity telemetry cases
  • Nurse-to-patient ratio is 1 : 4
  • Nurses are required to titrate cardiac drips including Cardizem, Heparin, and Amiodarone
  • Must read and interpret cardiac telemetry strips; no monitor tech support provided
  • 12-hour night shifts with the possibility of day shifts
  • 4 weekend shifts are required within each 4-week schedule
  • No call requirements
  • Floating to med / surg, tele, overflow units, and sister emergency departments as needed
  • Cerner EMR is used
  • Responsibilities include caring for ED hold patients and assisting with ED patient tasks such as vitals, IV starts, and medication administration
  • Navy scrubs are required
  • Rotation for holiday coverage is required with permanent staff
  • Two-shift orientation is provided for Med / Surg / Tele units
  • Support is provided by ED charge nurses and patient care techs
  • No ventilator patient care in this unit
  • Failure of either the dysrhythmia exam or SIM lab assessment results in a 6-month disqualification for CommonSpirit facilities in the region
  • First time travelers are welcome to apply
  • Permanent residence must be at least 50 miles from the facility

  • Active AZ or compact state RN license is required at time of consideration
  • Current BLS and ACLS certifications are required
  • Minimum 2 years of strong cardiac telemetry experience
  • Must be able to titrate and decrease cardiac drips per physician orders
  • Must pass a dysrhythmia exam prior to start with a maximum of two attempts
  • Must pass a SIM lab skills assessment on day one of orientation
  • Must provide a copy of driver's license for consideration
  • Two professional references required : one supervisor from within the last 12 months and one supervisor or peer from within the past 3 years
  • No previous direct employment within the past year at facilities associated with CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity
