American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Telemetry / ED Holds position requiring strong cardiac tele skills and an active AZ or compact license.
\n \n Responsibilities\n
Work in an acute care setting on the ED Holds / Telemetry unitResponsible for patients holding in the ER awaiting admission, primarily medical-surgical and telemetry patientsPatient ratio is 1 : 4 on a 31-bed unitMust titrate cardiac drips such as Cardizem, Heparin, and AmiodaroneRNs are required to read and interpret cardiac strips as there are no monitor techsNo vents are used on this unit12-hour night shifts (7p - 7a) with 4 weekend shifts per 4-week scheduleAbility to self-schedule, though subject to changeFloating required to med / surg, tele, overflow units, or sister facilities as neededUses Cerner EMR; experience preferredCare primarily for telemetry and cardiac patients boarding in the EDAssist with ED patient care tasks as needed, such as vital signs, IV starts, and medication administration, but will not act as primary RN for new ED patientsSupport staff includes ED PCTs and charge nurseUnit-specific orientation includes two shifts on med / surg / teleHoliday coverage is required on a rotating basisNavy scrubs are requiredPassing both the dysrhythmia exam and simulation lab on orientation day is mandatory; failing both attempts results in a six-month disqualification for the regionNo prior travel experience requiredMust reside at least 50 miles from the facility to qualify for travel rate if applying from AZ, NV, NE, IA, or MN\n \n Requirements\n
Active AZ or compact RN license required at time of considerationMinimum 2 years of recent strong cardiac tele experience requiredCurrent certifications in BLS and ACLS requiredMust be able to titrate and manage cardiac drips per provider ordersMust pass a dysrhythmia exam and simulation lab on first day of orientation (maximum two attempts)Ability to read and interpret cardiac rhythms independently2 professional references required, including one from a supervisor within the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor within the last 3 yearsCopy of driver's license required for considerationMay not have been employed by CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity within the last year\n Benefits\n
