Structural Engineer
Location : Charlotte, North Carolina OR Raleigh, North Carolina (Local position with minimal travel up to 10-15% within North Carolina and surrounding Southeast region)
Salary Range : $105,000–$125,000 (Based on experience and Charlotte vs Raleigh market rates)

Our client, a leader in structural preservation, is expanding its specialized engineering team in North Carolina's major metropolitan areas and needs a Senior Structural Engineer to inspect, diagnose, and repair complex parking structures and infrastructure throughout the Charlotte and Research Triangle regions.
You\'ll use cutting-edge inspection technology (like smart glasses for live technical guidance, GPR, and imaging tools) to lead structural assessments primarily within North Carolina\'s rapidly growing urban centers, supporting the region\'s booming construction and development markets.
This role combines office-based engineering work with regular field inspections throughout the Charlotte-Concord-Gastonia or Raleigh-Durham-Chapel Hill metropolitan areas. The Senior Structural Engineer will focus on high-priority projects within North Carolina and the Southeast, performing on-site inspections, diagnosing concrete and structural issues, and recommending long-term repair or preservation strategies for the region\'s unique challenges including rapid growth, varying soil conditions, and humid subtropical climate.

Conduct structural inspections of parking garages, commercial buildings, and mixed-use developments throughout Charlotte or Raleigh metro areas, focusing on concrete durability, foundation issues, and repair designSupport North Carolina\'s booming construction market with expert structural assessmentsUtilize state-of-the-art technologies and non-destructive testing methods (NDE) to conduct comprehensive structural assessments across Southeast marketsServe as a technical expert for high-priority North Carolina-based accounts including corporate headquarters, research facilities, and major developmentsAddress North Carolina-specific structural challenges including expansive clay soils, high humidity, thermal cycling, and hurricane / wind load considerationsDiagnose complex structural issues and develop engineering solutions compliant with North Carolina Building CodeWork with both new construction assessments and aging infrastructure in established areasCreate detailed engineering reports that account for the Southeast\'s climate and soil conditionsCollect data via non-destructive testing methods (e.g., ground-penetrating radar, corrosion mapping, foundation analysis)Draft assessment reports and repair solutions, collaborating with local and regional design teamsSupport rapid-response assessments for storm damage when neededWhat You Need
Bachelor\'s Degree in Civil Engineering or Related Field(Master\'s )PE License (North Carolina , or ability to obtain North Carolina licensure quickly)5–7+ years in structural engineering, ideally with concrete / material science focusUnderstanding of North Carolina Building Code and local municipal requirementsExperience with field assessments, inspections, or forensic engineeringKnowledge of Southeast climate challenges (humidity, thermal expansion, storm damage)Understanding of expansive soil conditions and foundation design considerationsStrong written and verbal communication skills for diverse client presentationsAbility to work independently while maintaining strong team collaborationNice-to-haves
