The Department of Ophthalmology at the University of California, San Francisco is seeking applicants to fill a full-time faculty position in Ophthalmology at the Assistant, Associate or Full Professor level.
The candidate will provide clinical services in anterior segment surgery in the UCSF Department of Ophthalmology and – if appropriate - the F. I. Proctor Foundation. The candidate will be responsible for maintaining a surgical anterior segment ophthalmology practice and support clinical call at one or more of our multiple UCSF clinical locations in the San Francisco Bay Area.
Our primary clinical site is the Wayne and Gladys Valley Center for Vision and Proctor Medical Clinic in Mission Bay. Additional clinical sites in San Francisco include : the Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital, San Francisco Veterans Affairs Hospital, and UCSF Parnassus. Our East Bay clinical sites include the Berkeley Outpatient Clinic, Benioff Children’s Hospital Oakland, and the Oakland VA Clinic. Candidates may also cover Bay Area clinical sites including the Wayne and Gladys Valley Center for Vision and Proctor Medical Clinic at Mission Bay, Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital, San Francisco Veterans Affairs Hospital, and other sites in San Francisco.
Requirements :
Qualified candidates must hold an MD or equivalent degree and have a CA license or be eligible for full, unrestricted licensure by the time of hire. Candidates must be board certified or board eligible in Ophthalmology (ABO); subspecialty fellowship training in cornea / anterior segment surgery with experience caring for adult and pediatric patients at the time of appointment is required, and training in uveitis is desirable but not required. Applicant’s materials must list (pending) qualifications upon submission. The candidate is expected to develop a busy surgical practice. Demonstrated teaching competency is essential. Candidates must have a distinguished record of excellence in clinical care and teaching; experience in clinical or education research is welcome but not required.
