JOB SUMMARY
Position is responsible for leading the quality assurance function for the Climax / Calder / BoreTech / H&S product lines manufactured in Newberg. The qualified person shall manage quality systems, processes, and personnel to ensure products meet or exceed regulatory, company, and customer requirements. The position involves direct supervision of quality inspectors, maintaining ISO 9001 compliance, managing supplier quality programs, and driving continuous improvement initiatives to enhance product quality and customer satisfaction.
The person shall work collaboratively with manufacturing, engineering, and supply chain teams to implement effective quality control measures, resolve quality issues, and optimize processes. This role requires strong analytical skills, quality system expertise, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Quality System Management Responsibilities
Own and continuously improve the company's ISO 9001 quality system and manage annual recertification audits
Develop, implement, and maintain quality control guidelines and protocols across all product linesEnsure compliance with regulatory, company, and manufacturing requirements / specificationsPerform internal audits of procedures as requiredReview and approve Engineering Change Control requests as part of revision controlTeam Management ResponsibilitiesDirectly supervise and manage quality inspectors and support staff
Train, mentor, and develop team members; manage individual and team performanceCoordinate workload distribution and ensure adequate coverage for quality operationsSupplier Quality ManagementCollaborate with supply chain management to drive continuous improvements in supplier quality
Work closely with suppliers to resolve nonconformances and implement corrective actionsManage supplier quality programs including PPAP (Preproduction Approval Process) and first article inspectionsCoordinate with offshore and domestic suppliers on quality requirements and performanceCustomer Quality ManagementOwn customer complaint process from voice of customer through implementation of corrective actions
Manage warranty issues and field defect data analysisEnsure customer quality requirements are met and maintainedSupport customer visits and quality discussions as neededQuality Data Analysis and MetricsAnalyze quality data and metrics to identify trends and improvement opportunities
Implement and maintain statistical process control (SPC) systemsTrack and report key quality performance indicatorsUse root cause identification methodologies including 8D, 5 Why, and Fishbone analysisProcess ImprovementDrive continuous improvements in manufacturing processes to enhance quality while reducing costs and lead times

Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Quality Management, or related field preferred, or equivalent combination of education and experienceMinimum 5-7 years of quality assurance experience in a manufacturing environmentMinimum 3-5 years of supervisory or team leadership experienceExperience with ISO 9001 quality systems, audits, and certifications requiredProven track record of improving product and service qualityQuality certifications such as ASQ CQE, CQM, or CRE preferredExperience with statistical analysis tools and process capability studiesProficiency with quality management systems (QMS) and testing methodologiesStrong experience using metrology tools including calipers, micrometers, coordinate measurement machines, optical comparators, etc.Experience evaluating machined parts, cast parts, and subcontracted assembliesExperience with PPAP methods and first article inspection processesFamiliarity with GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing)Proficient in Microsoft Office applications and quality software systemsExcellent verbal and written communication skillsStrong project management and organizational skillsDetail oriented with focus on meeting deliverables and deadlinesAbility to work effectively in cross-functional teamsSFE / Climax is a drug-free workplace.
