Integrated Behavioral Health Provider

(East Middle School)

FLSA Non-Exempt 36-40 hours per week

Position Summary :

Under the direction of the Director of Behavioral Health, provides behavioral health services to students at East Middle School.  The Behavioral Health Provider (BHP) will understand and model the mission of SWMTCHC. The BHP will understand behavioral health integration and practice the clinic’s policy on confidentiality as it applies to all clinic information, exhibit professional behavior in all facets of work at SWMTCHC, and will exhibit teamwork with all SWMTCHC staff and Butte School District.

Primary Care Behavioral Health Providers see large numbers of patients during a week. Most often, appointments are half-hour long and scheduled as needed by the patient rather than on a regular, weekly basis. This is true in our School-Based Health Clinics as well. Understanding of PCBH, and a world-view aligned to this model of care is essential for any applicants.

Required Education and Experience :

  • Master’s degree required.
  • LCSW, LCPC, or candidate license required.
  • Previous experience working in a team setting, school setting, or integrated behavioral health model is preferred.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities :

  • Knowledge of Behavioral Health Interventions in an integrated behavioral health model and evidenced-based treatments for mental health conditions.
  • Experience with primary care models used including cognitive behavioral therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, problem-solving therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy, solutions focused brief therapy, and behavioral activation.
  • Understanding of human development (child development, life stages).
  • Working knowledge of pharmacology.
  • Experience in proving psychoeducation to individuals or groups.
  • Comfort and willingness to work with students of all ages as a generalist practitioner.
  • Essential Functions :

  • Work in collaboration with the patient’s primary care and educational team.
  • Engage students and their families in therapy interventions for a variety of mental and physical health conditions. Appointments are in-person during the school day.
  • Conduct risk suicide assessments and make recommendations to medical providers and patients, determining if Crisis Response Services are appropriate for patient safety.
  • Work with students and their families on Crisis Response Plans.
  • Attend school meetings as needed and communicate regularly with the care team at the clinic and school.
  • Work in conjunction with the student, family, and school in developing care plans and goal setting.
  • Teach patients, families and school staff prevention and intervention techniques.
  • Be aware of community resources and make referrals as appropriate.
  • Educate patients, family members and school staff regarding mental illness, wellness, medication, and related issues.
  • Attend and participate in all required meetings.
  • Must follow Code of Ethics established by his or her professional licensing group.
  • Model the mission of the SWMTCHC, be a person of integrity and trust and be a team player in all facets of the job.
  • Understand and support the team approach.
  • Able to write clearly and concisely in a variety of settings and styles and complete documentation within 3 days of encounter.
  • Understands necessary information to communicate in written format regarding patient care.
  • Develop and facilitate group therapy as appropriate.
  • Participation in continuous quality improvement activities.
  • Remain current with standards of mental and behavioral health practice.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations :

  • Current LCSW, LCPC, or candidate licensure in good standing.
  • Clinical supervision is provided if needed.
  • Supervision : This position has no supervisory responsibilities

  • General office / clinic conditions are pleasant; good, clean working conditions where accidents and hazards are negligible; requires short periods of moderate lifting, pushing or pulling objects up to twenty pounds. Clear diction and acute hearing are necessary for effective communication with the staff and public.

    The position is based at East Middle School, however occasional travel to the Butte Clinic may be necessary. Personal vehicle may be necessary at times to travel to the clinic; therefore, a valid driver’s license, proof of auto insurance and registration is required.
