Leidos has an opening for a Project Engineer to work on NASA's Human Health and Performance Contract (HHPC) at the Johnson Space Center in Houston, Texas.

This position provides engineering support for the development, fabrication, assembly, and testing of hardware for use on the International Space Station and future exploration programs.

The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in the execution of projects and delivery of hardware to NASA / JSC.

This position is located at the Johnson Space Center in Houston, Texas with the opportunity to work a flexible schedule 1-2 days per week remote .

The Project Engineer will develop key skills needed for requirements development and verification, parts identification, hardware development and assembly, testing, certification / delivery, and sustaining.

This position will require the candidate to become well-versed in the quality process for the development and sustainment of controlled hardware, including Task Performance Sheets and Discrepancy Reports.

This role is responsible for reviewing and understanding engineering drawings, as well as overseeing and participating in hands-on development and maintenance tasks.

The successful candidate will possess strong communication skills for collaboration with other project engineers, technical support staff, and quality engineering personnel.

This position will require the candidate to multi-task efficiently in a dynamic work environment, solve problems when issues manifest, and adhere to the established delivery schedule.

US Citizenship or US Permanent Residency and the ability to successfully obtain a Public Trust Security Clearance are required.

Primary Responsibilities :

  • Write Task Performance Sheets and disposition Discrepancy Reports for controlled hardware / software units throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Read, understand, and interpret engineering drawings; provide initial inputs for development and redlines for updates to drawings.
  • Utilize project requirement and verification documents to develop assembly plans, testing strategies, and produce test plans, test set-ups, and procedures.
  • Complete functional development, certification, acceptance, and interface testing of hardware throughout various phases of the project lifecycle.

Correlate test results and complete data analysis in a report format.

Determine how a system should work and how changes in conditions, operations, and the environment will affect outcomes;

incorporate results into system specifications.

  • Provide engineering data to maintain Safety Package records and establish government flight certifications.
  • Assume ownership of all technical considerations for key elements of hardware. Interface with purchasing, quality, logistics, other HHPC stakeholders, and NASA stakeholders.
  • Disposition non-compliant hardware. Perform trouble-shooting on both ground and in-flight systems. Develop and maintain sustaining engineering plans.
  • Ensure compliance with Safety, Health and Environmental Plan and Quality Assurance Plan.

Minimum Qualifications :

  • Bachelor's Degree in an Engineering discipline and 4+ years of experience
  • Experience with configuration and data management processes
  • Collaborator who communicates effectively both verbally and in writing; ability to communicate complex information to technical forums
  • Demonstrated ability o troubleshoot hardware and perform root cause analysis
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

Preferred Qualifications :

  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical, or Aerospace Engineering.
  • Prior work experience supporting NASA / JSC programs.
  • Experience in Biomedical Engineering

Pay Range :

Pay Range $65,000.00 - $117,500.00
