Principal Consultant, Capital Project Delivery position at ERM focuses on growing our power sector business, specifically in electric transmission and distribution and renewable energy projects.
OVERVIEW
The successful candidate will have demonstrated success leading permitting tasks on capital development projects, including electric transmission lines. They will oversee staff, assess environmental conditions and impacts, and possess strong technical writing and communication skills.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Manage and provide technical expertise on routing / siting and permitting for power projects with complex client needs.
Conduct detailed routing analysis and prepare summary routing reports.
Prepare permit applications to federal, state, or local environmental regulatory authorities for energy development projects.
Be familiar with US Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) and other state / local permitting requirements.
Develop project plans and schedules; produce project management reports such as monthly progress reports.
Participate in agency consultations, project meetings, and client communications.
Collaborate with ERM practitioners to execute project delivery tasks.
Travel up to 20% of the time for agency meetings, project team meetings, or site visits.
Build strong collaborative relationships with clients to expand ERM's profile and market share.
REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor's or master's degree in environmental science, natural resources, or related discipline, or equivalent experience.
Minimum of 6 years of consulting or industry experience supporting power clients with routing / siting and permitting projects.
Working knowledge of key natural resource regulations (Clean Water Act, Endangered Species Act, National Historic Preservation Act).
Experience reviewing Erosion and Sediment Control Plans, Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plans, National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System Construction General Permits, and related construction drawings for accuracy.
Demonstrated ability to research and prepare concise, accurate technical documents.
Well-developed team-building and influencing skills; unquestioned integrity; and the experience, confidence, and stature to effectively address client and business needs and project challenges.
Excellent writing, communication, collaboration, project management, strategic thinking, and "people" skills.
COMPENSATION
Annual base pay range : $104,236 – $137,540 (USD). Pay is based on relevant education, experience, skill set, geographic location, performance, and business needs. This role may be eligible for bonus pay.
