The Salvation Army, an internationally recognized non-profit, faith-based organization, has an opening for Custodian in San Antonio, Texas.
Provides a variety of cleaning duties and maintains the building to ensure the upkeep, neatness, and cleanliness of the same on a daily basis.
Knowledge of effective cleaning and sanitizing practices, general building and grounds maintenance practices and procedures including proper safety precautions.
Ability to perform routine cleaning duties, minor repairs, and maintenance activities of buildings and grounds.
Ability to use and maintain cleaning and maintenance equipment and tools effectively and in a safe manner.
Ability to follow instructions and work independently.
Ability to drive a Salvation Army vehicle following all laws, regulations, and policies.
No formal education required, and six months experience performing general janitorial and general maintenance duties; or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Ability to meet attendance requirements.
Ability to read, write, and communicate the English language effectively.
Ability to perform strenuous, heavy work involving the lifting and carrying of heavy objects.
Ability to perform continuous walking, stooping, standing, and some climbing.
Ability to exert the physical energy required to perform the needed janitorial, and maintenance work.
Ability to drive a Salvation Army vehicle safely following all laws, regulations, and policies.
Duties are performed standing and requires squatting, climbing, bending and walking. Any of the preceding duties may be relieved by brief or occasional periods of sitting.
Extensive amount of physical effort required associated with walking, standing, lifting and carrying heavy objects (up to 75 lbs.) frequently.
