Position Summary :
The Outpatient Registered Nurse is responsible for delivering high-quality, patient-centered care through all phases of the nursing process : assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation. This role coordinates nursing care based on established clinical practice standards and works collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to ensure optimal patient outcomes. Care is provided to a diverse population ranging from newborns to elderly patients, with special attention to age-specific needs and cultural diversity.
Key Responsibilities :
Conduct comprehensive assessments and develop individualized care plans.
Deliver direct patient care, administer medications, and perform diagnostic procedures as required.
Document care in the electronic medical record accurately and timely.
Educate patients and families on health conditions, treatments, and post-care needs.
Collaborate with physicians, care teams, and allied health professionals for continuity of care.
Supervise and provide guidance to Patient Care Technicians (PCTs) and Unit Secretaries in collaboration with the Charge Nurse.
Maintain a safe, clean, and organized care environment in compliance with hospital protocols.
Qualifications :
Education & Licensure :
Graduate of an NLN-accredited nursing program (Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Nursing).
Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Alaska (or eligible to obtain).
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
Ability to pass and maintain position-specific competencies.
Experience :
One (1) year of RN experience in a healthcare setting preferred.
New graduates with strong clinical training will be considered.
Skills & Abilities :
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Proficient in basic nursing procedures, EKG interpretation, and medical equipment usage.
Skilled in documentation, patient education, and the use of office and medical technology.
Ability to provide culturally sensitive care across a wide age range.
Familiarity with medical terminology, patient safety standards, and care coordination.
