Manufacturing - Process Engineer

Overview
With a strong understanding of manufacturing and process engineering, this position will study, design, implement improvements, and improve efficiencies on processes and equipment used to transform raw materials into the final product. This position will work closely with R&D, production, and maintenance to optimize and improve current operations and ensure product quality. They will be the voice of clarity because of their process experience leading the team to improvements and success.
Responsibilities
- Implement process improvements, designs, and standards to ensure product integrity and acceptance.
- Conduct research on new process methods and determine best equipment to meet needs.
- Evaluate manufacturing processes by applying knowledge of product design, fabrication, assembly, formats, and materials; confer with equipment vendors and solicit observations from operators.
- Study processes and equipment and improve efficiencies through all levels of operations (e.g., modify and update machine settings).
- Assure product and process quality by designing testing methods; testing finished product and process capabilities; establishing standards; confirming manufacturing processes.
- Improve manufacturing efficiency by analyzing and planning workflow, calculating workspace requirements, and designing equipment layout and workspace effectively.
- Upgrade systems and processes with new technology.
- Create and maintain process flow, P&IDs, engineering standards and documents.
- Inspect and maintain procedures that contribute to the improvement of the entire process.
- Assist in shutdowns and start-ups when needed or requested.
- Ensure that all equipment is functioning efficiently to the highest possible standards, and provide clear communication among production team members.
- Work directly with R&D, Engineering and Production to provide input on new installations and facility upgrades.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications & Requirements
Experience and exposure in food-related environments.Experience with automated food / confectionery making equipment, including tanks, vessels, dosing and mixing, heating and cooling, heat transfer, pump systems, vision, and depositing systems.Ability to read, modify and create drawings; work within provided drawing systems.Ability to size pumps, piping, mixing systems, and batch equipment.Knowledge of process control components, ideologies, and their functions.Travel may be required on occasion.3 years or more of manufacturing and process experience within a food environment and / or confectionery plant.Education
High School Diploma or GED is required.Bachelors degree in engineering is a plus.Or related experience within an Engineering Department for a minimum of 5 years.Job details
