Locum - Physician - General Medicine WA

Overview
Veterans Evaluation Services (VES), a Maximus company, is seeking knowledgeable and dedicated General Medicine providers to perform non-treatment exams nationwide. These roles are ideal for physicians with a background in family medicine, internal medicine, orthopedic surgery, or similar fields, seeking flexible PRN work that contributes significantly to our Veterans. The position involves conducting interviews, physical assessments (e.g., range of motion, muscle strength testing), and completing detailed reports—all without prescribing or treatment responsibilities. Work can be performed in your own office or at specified local VES locations, with assignments starting from February 2, 2026.

Required Skills

• Valid medical license in Washington State
• Proven experience in general medicine, family medicine, internal medicine, or related fields
• Strong interview and physical assessment capabilities
• Excellent documentation skills and attention to detail
• Ability to complete assessments efficiently within set timeframes
• Reliable and self-motivated with a commitment to Veterans’ health and well-being

Nice to Have Skills

• Prior experience with Compensation & Pension exams or similar evaluations
• Familiarity with medical certification and documentation standards for government contracts
• Ability to work independently in a clinical or non-clinical setting
• Experience with telehealth or remote assessments

Preferred Education and Experience

• Medical degree (MD or DO) from an accredited institution
• Board certification or eligible in family medicine, internal medicine, or orthopedic surgery
• Minimum of 2 years clinical experience in general medicine
• Prior experience in military or veteran healthcare settings is advantageous

Other Requirements

• Must be a local candidate within 30 miles of assigned locations or own a compliant office space if working at your own office
• Travel reimbursement included in rates for eligible assignments
• Completion of required credentialing and onboarding processes swiftly
• Ability to perform exams on a PRN basis, including half-day (4 hours) and full-day (8 hours) shifts
• Certification or licensure must be current; no reimbursement for certifications or portal training prior to start

Earn competitive hourly rates of $800 for half-day shifts (up to 4 hours) and $1,600 for full-day shifts (5 hours or more). Additional bonuses are available for completing training and initial exams.
