Life Cycle Engineering (LCE) is responsible for ensuring our products are Safe, Reliable, Maintainable and delivered on time.

Life Cycle Engineering consists of multiple disciplines that support engineering, our program offices and our customers.

Our Life Cycle Engineering disciplines participate in the total life cycle of our products from conception to deactivation. Our focus area is product support, including the following disciplines : Reliability System Safety and Supportability.

This is an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated Principal System Safety Engineer to join us on the Land & Air Defense Systems (LADS) System Safety team in Tewksbury, MA.

What You Will Do

As a Sr. Principal System Safety Engineer, your responsibilities will include :

Analysis of engineering hardware, mechanical and electrical drawings and schematics assessing for fault tolerance, latent hazards, and safety requirements compliance.

Work with system test and tactical operation and maintenance procedures to ensure the proper administrative system safety controls are in place.

Work across all integrated product teams and lines to properly eliminate hazards or provide effective controls.

Collaborating with Program Management and government approval authorities from program startup through production to demilitarization and disposal backgrounds.

Performing System Safety Program or Design analyses.

Working with a large system safety program or multiple mid-sized safety programs, including :

Monitoring program technical execution, Interfacing with stakeholders (e.g. customers, program offices, subcontractors, vendors).

Preparing Safety Assessment Reports and Safety Program Briefs for Customer Approval.

Briefing safety of the program at technical reviews and as part of the safety approval process.

Interpreting system requirements, customer specifications and military standards.

Preparing internal and customer reports describing various analyses relevant to the System Safety program.

Collaborating across multiple disciplines to gain a full understanding of product architecture and design.

This position is posted as ONSITE and is based at the Raytheon Tewksbury, MA location.

Qualifications You Must Have

Typically Requires a Bachelor's degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Math (STEM) and a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience.

Experience with analysis of engineering hardware, mechanical and electrical drawings and schematics assessing for fault tolerance, latent hazards, and safety requirements compliance.

Experience with Work with system test and tactical operation and maintenance procedures to ensure the proper administrative system safety controls are in place.

Qualifications We Prefer

Experience in command and control systems and / or weapon combat systems, Experience with DoD System Safety Programs

Experience with DOD System Safety Standards, Experience producing System Safety Program Plans (SSPP), Safety Assessment Reports (SAR), Functional Hazard Analysis (FHA), and Hazard Tracking Logs (HTLs), and Hazardous Material Management Plans and Reports.

Experience with Safety Engineering, Experience conducting System Safety Working Groups (SSWG)

The salary range for this role is 124,000 USD - 250,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidates work experience, location, education / training, and key skills. Specific benefits are dependent upon the specific business unit as well as whether or not the position is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement. Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and / or the companys performance. This role is a U.S.-based role. If the successful candidate resides in a U.S. territory, the appropriate pay structure and benefits will apply.
