Details :Requirements :
Education : Obtain a bachelor's degree in occupational therapy or a related field. Many positions may require a master's degree in occupational therapy, which is becoming increasingly common in the field.
Licensure : Obtain a license to practice occupational therapy in Arizona. This typically requires completing an accredited occupational therapy program and passing the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT) exam.
Certification : While not always required, some school districts may prefer or require occupational therapists to have additional certification in school-based occupational therapy (S-BOT).
This certification demonstrates specialized knowledge and skills related to working in educational settings.
Clearances : Like other professionals working with children, school-based occupational therapists may need to pass background checks and obtain clearances, such as fingerprint clearance cards, as required by the Arizona Department of Public Safety.
