Position Description

Our client, a leading law firm with a strong national and international presence, is seeking a Counsel-level attorney with 8–10+ years of experience in first- and third-party insurance coverage to join their insurance coverage practice group. This is an excellent opportunity for a highly motivated and proactive attorney who thrives in a leadership role and is comfortable managing complex litigation independently.

The ideal candidate will be a strong legal writer with a deep understanding of insurance coverage matters and a passion for working on sophisticated disputes involving property, time element, CGL coverage, and bad faith claims. The practice represents both domestic and international insurers.

Key Responsibilities

• Analyze first- and third-party insurance policies and draft detailed coverage opinions.
• Provide strategic coverage advice to insurer clients.
• Conduct examinations under oath.
• Lead federal and state litigation, including declaratory judgment actions and defense of insurers in policyholder-filed litigation.
• Draft and supervise pleadings, motions, and mediation statements.
• Communicate effectively with opposing counsel, clients, experts, and the court.
• Conduct legal research using Westlaw or similar tools.
• Draft and supervise discovery requests and subpoenas.
• Manage document review and production processes.
• Take and defend depositions.
• Attend hearings and mediations.
• Retain and manage experts and consultants.
• Supervise and delegate work to junior associates and paralegals.
