Job description

The recruiting company is a long established, financially strong importer and distributor of metal and plastic components, semi- assemblies and finished goods that are sold to a diverse range of US based manufacturers. The company provides its customers with the cost advantages associated with items sourced offshore while providing the convenience of doing business with a domestically based firm that administers just in time inventory programs of imported parts.

The company is seeking a relentless cold caller who can help broaden its customer base by developing new accounts that are candidates for its services. Ideally, this person would have some background as a sales engineer. The company sells technical, custom made products and the ability to read a drawing and at least understand the rudimentary technical aspects of the products sold will be of great importance to the individual’s success in this position. The successful candidate may have had their own import business , but was undercapitalized and would benefit by partnering with a financially stable enterprise.

Responsibilities

1. Research industries and identify companies that are potential candidates for the company’s services.

2. Develop a cost effective internet marketing program that drives potential customers to the company’s website.

3. Attend trade shows and other public venues that include potential customers.

4. Work with potential customers to generate inquiries for products in which the company has expertise.

5. Develop a contact and follow up program for communicating with potential customers

6. Work closely with the company’s Asian subsidiaries to quote against inquiries generated by the company’s marketing activities.

7. Manage the projects that are assigned to the company by its customers.

Qualifications

1. 5-10 years experience in sales, sales management and / or project management. Some international trade experience a major plus.

2. A university degree in business or engineering, engineering preferred. An MBA is a plus, but not required.

3. Excellent oral and written communication skills.

4. Good people skills including the ability to work cross culturally.

5. Experience in managing projects from inception to completion.

6. An inquisitive mind.

7. Ability to work with a minimum of supervision

8. Strong work ethic and demonstrated integrity.

9. Willingness to travel both domestically and internationally.
