Accounting Manager
The Accounting Manager, under the direction and supervision of the Controller, is responsible for daily operations of the Accounting department including payroll processing, cash receipts, bank reconciliations, grant reporting, and accounts payable batch review for the Tribe. Essential functions include coaching, team building, retention, scheduling, training, hiring, and supervision of Admin Accounting staff. The role oversees all functions of the Accounting department including accounts receivable, payroll, accounts payable, general ledger accounting, and bank reconciliations. The Accounting Manager is responsible for protection of all Tribal financial assets, implementing departmental objectives and operational goals, directing accounting activity for timely posting and control of monthly close process for reporting, establishing internal controls and processes for integrity of general ledger accounts and accounting software, supporting in budgeting, forecasting, and reporting activities to external and internal sources, analyzing monthly financial reporting and investigating variances, ensuring clean and timely year-end audits, responsible for grant management and reporting, upholding policy and communicating with managers on operational best practices, effectively managing accounting and program manager relations, anticipating problems and being proactive in finding solutions, and ensuring compliance with Tribal, federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, Tribal policies, and TERO ordinance.
