The QEHS (Quality, Environmental, Health & Safety) Specialist supports the compliance department, helping to develop, implement, and maintain Quality, Environmental, Health, and Safety (QEHS) programs to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, industry standards, and company policies. This role promotes a culture of safety, environmental responsibility, and quality excellence while minimizing risks and driving continuous improvement.

Essential Functions
1. Quality Management :
a. Develop, implement, and maintain Quality Management Systems (e.g., ISO 9001).
b. Conduct internal quality audits and support external audit readiness.
c. Monitor production or service processes to identify non-conformances.
d. Lead the corrective and preventive action (CAPA) process to resolve quality issues.
e. Analyze quality data and trends to drive continuous improvement initiatives.
f. Support supplier quality activities and customer satisfaction efforts.
2. Environmental Compliance :
a. Develop and manage environmental programs (e.g., waste reduction, recycling, air / water emissions control).
b. Conduct environmental impact and risk assessments.
c. Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal environmental regulations (e.g., EPA).
d. Support sustainability initiatives and reporting requirements.
3. Health and Safety :
a. Implement and enforce occupational health and safety standards (e.g., OSHA, ISO 45001).
b. Perform job hazard analyses (JHAs), safety inspections, and risk assessments.
c. Coordinate and deliver safety training programs (e.g., PPE, emergency response).
d. Lead incident / accident investigations and root cause analyses.
e. Track and report on safety performance metrics and corrective actions.
4. Documentation and Reporting :
a. Maintain accurate records of audits, inspections, training, and regulatory filings.
b. Prepare monthly / quarterly QEHS reports for leadership and stakeholders.
c. Assist in developing standard operating procedures (SOPs) and policy updates.
5. Continuous Improvement :
a. Identify and implement opportunities to enhance QEHS processes.
b. Facilitate kaizen or lean events aimed at reducing waste and increasing efficiency.
c. Collaborate with production, maintenance, HR, and engineering teams to resolve systemic issues.
6. Stakeholder Engagement :
a. Communicate QEHS policies, expectations, and updates to employees at all levels.
b. Serve as a subject matter expert and liaison with regulatory agencies and third-party auditors.
c. Support employee engagement initiatives related to QEHS awareness.
