Appeals Specialist
We are seeking a dynamic, organized, and self-motivated HR professional who thrives on detailed analysis, makes impartial decisions based on facts, and is passionate about supporting employees throughout their journey. In this role, you will ensure fair and consistent treatment of employees during the appeals process, focusing on delivering a positive experience at every step.
What You'll Do :
- Collaborate with multiple stakeholders to ensure a clear understanding of employee experience.
- Investigate information from various sources, including policy, past applications, and employee statements, to reach fair and consistent outcomes.
- Analyze data from internal systems and recommend corrective actions based on findings.
- Independently manage casework, ensuring timely and definitive resolution.
- Review case data to identify trends, mitigate risks proactively, and recommend policy improvements.
- Provide recommendations to address systemic issues.
- Build trust with employees and deliver an exceptional experience.
- Manage challenging conversations across multiple organizational levels.
- Respond promptly and accurately to employee inquiries while maintaining complete and accurate documentation.
Key Responsibilities :
Investigation : Review disciplinary actions and determine if policies were applied correctly and consistently using evidence and statements.Decision-Making : Handle complex, escalated cases requiring independent research and interpretation of policies and processes.Expertise : Serve as a subject matter expert for employees, teams, and vendors, developing solutions for complex issues.Customer Service : Partner with internal teams and leadership to resolve gaps and respond quickly to inquiries.Case Management : Manage workload to ensure timely, accurate, and defect-free service delivery.Basic Qualifications :
Bachelor's degree from an accredited university57 years overall work experienceMinimum 4 years of relevant HR experience across multiple domainsAbility to manage confidential and sensitive information with strict adherence to privacy standardsExperience in a call center, distribution center, or manufacturing environmentComfortable with high-volume workloads and rapid changes; willing to "roll up your sleeves"Solutions-focused with strong deliverables in a fast-paced environmentBias for action, strong work ethic, and commitment to excellenceProven ability to handle confidential information and escalate issues appropriatelyPreferred Qualifications :
Master's degree or MBA in HRM or specialized training in labor / employee relationsExperience with HR case management systemsEvidence of career progression or superior performance in previous rolesExperience supporting large hourly employee populations (2,000+)Work Environment :

This is a Contract position based out of Houston, TX.
Pay and Benefits :
The pay range for this position is $27.00 / hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
