The Senior Manager Engineering is responsible for all engineering activities including new product introductions, cost reduction, technology / research, and lifecycle product support. The position requires excellent technical engineering knowledge coupled with superior people leadership skills, proficiency in quality systems, functional and program management experience and business planning expertise. This position works closely with the business group and other functional leaders in the company (service, operations, supply chain, finance) and is responsible for providing executive leadership and management for the industrial / commercial engineering function. Responsible for devising and effectively implementing a development methodology that ensures superior industrial / commercial products while also fostering and rewarding innovation and creativity within the engineering department.

Minimum Qualifications :

• Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical, Electrical Engineering or equivalent;
• 10 years of engineering experience, preferably in an industrial / commercial products environment;
• 5 years of management experience

Level of Independence :

Works independently under the direction of the SVP or Director Engineering with strong influence from the Business Group & Core Engineering Group. Carries out managerial responsibility in accordance with Generac policies, guidelines, and applicable laws under the direction of the Controller. Work is subject to strategic guidance and evaluation from next level of management.

Physical Demands :

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear; and use hands to manipulate objects or controls. The employee is regularly required to stand and walk. On occasion the incumbent may be required to stoop, bend or reach above the shoulders. The employee must occasionally lift up to 25 - 50 pounds. Specific conditions of this job are typical of frequent and continuous computer-based work requiring periods of sitting, close vision and ability to adjust focus. Occasional travel.
