Tax Manager

Tax Manager Requirements & Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
CPA required
7+ years of progressive tax experience preferred
Strong background in real estate taxation and multi-entity structures
Experience with partnership tax, K-1s, and investor reporting
Prior experience from Big Four, regional accounting firms, or in-house real estate platforms
Comfortable working with multiple external CPA firms (U.S. and international)
Oversee all income, personal property, sales, and business taxes across all legal entities
Research federal, state, and local tax laws and assess applicability across the entity structure
Manage relationships with U.S. and international CPA firms
Provide and review all information used in tax filings to ensure consistency across firms
Coordinate and manage cost segregation studies and asset classification for tax and book purposes
Determine capitalization vs. expensing treatment and review asset capitalization in the accounting system
Advise leadership on tax implications of transactions, structuring, and business decisions
Review tax calculations, estimated payments, and informational returns
Prepare tax provisions for corporate investors where required
Maintain REIT qualification and overall legal standing of all entities
Assist legal with entity formations, closures, and state compliance matters
Advise on tax implications of asset sales for internal entities and external investors
Prepare and distribute Schedules K-1 and Forms 1042-S, including withholding calculations
Manage unclaimed property filings and escheatment requirements
Maintain tax software and tools used across the organization
Tax Manager Preferred Background & Skills
Experience with REIT structures
Exposure to international tax considerations
Experience supporting investor-heavy capital structures
Ability to present multiple solutions to complex tax issues
