Job Summary : The EVS Assistant Director plays a key leadership role in overseeing the environmental services functions within a healthcare facility. This position ensures the highest standards of cleanliness, sanitation, infection control, and patient safety are met in all patient care and non-patient care areas. The Assistant Director will support the EVS Director in managing staff, developing departmental policies, and ensuring compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards.
Key Responsibilities :
Assist in overseeing the daily operations of the Environmental Services (EVS) department, ensuring optimal cleanliness, sanitation, and hygiene standards are maintained in all areas of the healthcare facility.
Ensure adherence to infection control protocols and healthcare regulations, including hospital-acquired infection prevention and cleanliness standards.
Lead training initiatives for EVS staff, ensuring they are knowledgeable in best practices for cleaning, disinfection, and safety protocols.
Assist in the management of the department's budget, ensuring cost-effective use of cleaning supplies, chemicals, and equipment.
Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) related to cleanliness, efficiency, and infection control.
Ensure compliance with safety protocols, including OSHA regulations and other health and safety guidelines.
Collaborate with other departments, including nursing, maintenance, and administration, to ensure a safe and clean environment for patients, visitors, and staff.
Bachelor’s degree in healthcare administration, environmental services, or a related field preferred.
Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in environmental services or facilities management, with at least 2 years in a leadership or supervisory role in a healthcare setting.
Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and guide staff.
Certification in Environmental Services or Infection Control (e.g., CHESP, HAZWOPER) preferred.
