Estimator – Structural Steel / Misc Metals

Location : Lockport, IL (area)

Job Type and Duration : Full-Time, Direct Hire

Pay Range : Up to $110,000 (Depending on Experience)

Job Summary

Our client, a regional AISC-certified structural steel fabricator , is seeking an Estimator to join their pre-construction team. This position focuses on estimating structural steel and miscellaneous metals projects for electrical substation and industrial markets. The Estimator will perform takeoffs, review project documents, define scopes of work, and prepare detailed bid proposals.

Responsibilities

• Review project drawings, specifications, and bid documents to determine full project scope
• Perform accurate quantity takeoffs for structural and miscellaneous steel components
• Prepare detailed scope of work documentation and material / labor breakdowns
• Solicit, evaluate, and follow up on vendor and subcontractor quotes
• Support the pre-construction team with estimate summaries and pricing proposals
• Coordinate with project managers and engineers for clarification or scope alignment
• Maintain organized records of estimates, bids, and revisions
• Follow company estimating procedures and assist with process improvements
