Position Summary :
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Inventory & Purchasing Specialist to manage inventory levels and procurement activities within a regulated, medical device environment. This role is responsible for maintaining accurate inventory, sourcing and qualifying suppliers, tracking purchases, and ensuring alignment with quality and regulatory standards. The ideal candidate will have experience in both inventory control and purchasing, with a strong understanding of supply chain trends and vendor management.
Key Responsibilities :
Inventory Management :
- Monitor and maintain optimal inventory levels of raw materials, components, and finished goods to support production and operational goals.
- Develop and improve inventory systems and tools to facilitate accurate tracking and ease of transactions.
- Oversee shipping and receiving functions, including preparation of customs documentation as needed.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support inventory-related initiatives and facility operations.
Purchasing & Vendor Management :
Source, qualify, and evaluate vendors to ensure quality, cost-effectiveness, and compliance with regulatory requirements.Negotiate pricing, lead times, and terms to achieve favorable outcomes for the company.Track purchases and vendor performance, maintaining and updating the Approved Supplier List.Assist with training staff on procurement procedures and requisition requirements.Cross-Functional Collaboration :
Coordinate with Engineering to ensure complete and accurate purchasing documentation, including Bills of Materials (BOMs), technical drawings, and certifications (e.g., RoHS).Work with Quality to ensure purchasing processes align with the Quality Management System (QMS), including the development and maintenance of procedures and work instructions.Monitor supply chain risks and lead time trends; support second sourcing and contingency strategies in collaboration with Operations.Additional Duties :
Support facility-related tasks and special projects as assigned.Qualifications :
Minimum High School Diploma. AA or Bachelors desired.Experience in inventory control and procurement within a regulated industry (medical device or similar preferred).Strong knowledge of inventory systems, purchasing workflows, and vendor qualification processes.Excellent communication, negotiation, and organizational skills.Familiarity with quality and regulatory standards (e.g., ISO 13485, RoHS) is a plus.Proficient in Microsoft Office and inventory or ERP systems.
