Job description

Summary : The Fleet Service Technician is responsible for performing routine maintenance and minor repairs on fleet company vehicles to ensure safe and reliable operation. This role supports the Fleet Supervisor by executing scheduled service tasks, reporting vehicle issues, and maintaining accurate records of maintenance activities. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, mechanically inclined, and committed to maintaining fleet efficiency and safety.

Essential Job Functions :

The Fleet Service Technician works in a variety of settings, depending on the fleet's needs and the company's facilities. The work environment typically includes :

  • Fleet Maintenance Garage / Shop : A designated area equipped with tools, lifts, and part storage for vehicle servicing.
  • Outdoor Work Areas : Performing maintenance and inspections on vehicles parked in lots, sometimes in various weather conditions.
  • On-Site Locations : Traveling to job sites or roadside locations for minor repairs or emergency maintenance.
  • Warehouse / Yard : Checking and organizing parts, tools, and maintenance supplies.
  • Office Setting (Minimal) : Logging service records, reviewing maintenance schedules, and coordinating with the Fleet Supervisor.

The role may require exposure to hot, cold, wet, or dusty conditions, depending on the location and season. Proper safety equipment (gloves, safety glasses, steel-toe boots, etc.) is required.

Education, Knowledge, and Skills Required or Desirables :

  • High school diploma or equivalent; vocational training in automotive maintenance is a plus.
  • 1-3 years of experience in vehicle maintenance or a related field.
  • Basic mechanical knowledge of vehicle maintenance procedures.
  • Ability to use hand tools and diagnostic equipment effectively.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow maintenance schedules.
  • Good communication skills to report issues and coordinate with the Fleet Supervisor.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
