About Rising Ground

Founded as an orphanage in 1831, Rising Ground has been at the forefront of evolving community needs. Driven by the belief that each of us can thrive when life has hope and opportunity, Rising Ground provides caring support and proven paths to positive change, helping children, adults, and families rise above adversity, and each year, Rising Ground is a positive force in the lives of more than 72,000 individuals annually. We do this through 101 programs across 138 sites, throughout New York City and Westchester. Our strong belief and commitment to diversity is shown not just through our work with supported persons but is integral to the building of a strong staff that reflects the communities we serve. Rising Ground is headquartered in New York City.

About the Role

The Purchasing / Distribution Coordinator will play a critical role in the HomePlus program, Home+ program in Queens and Manhattan. This position will be responsible for purchasing, billing, tracking, and distributing flexible funding supports and safety supplies for survivors of domestic and gender-based violence (DV / GBV).

By streamlining financial and supply distribution processes, the Coordinator ensures that Case Managers and Coordinators can focus their time on direct survivor support. The role is vital to maintaining a low-barrier, trauma-informed system for providing flexible funds, emergency housing supports, and safety resources that contribute to a survivor’s stability, healing, and long-term recovery.

What You’ll Do

  • Manage the purchasing and distribution of client emergency / flexible funding requests (e.g., rent arrears, utilities, groceries, transportation, childcare supplies).
  • Oversee procurement and distribution of home safety devices (locks, windows, doors, Ring cameras, PERS devices) in coordination with vendors and community partners.
  • Track and document all purchases in alignment with organizational auditing requirements and funder guidelines.
  • Ensure timely processing of invoices, receipts, and expense reports for Rising Ground and funders contracts.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential financial records within program databases.
  • Collaborate with Case Managers and Coordinators to prioritize survivor requests and reduce wait times for emergency support.
  • Monitor inventory of supplies and safety devices, ensuring adequate stock for timely client distribution.
  • Support quarterly data collection and reporting as required by Rising Ground.
  • Participate in regular staff meetings, supervision, and professional development opportunities.
  • Uphold Rising Ground’s trauma-informed, anti-oppressive, and survivor-centered framework in all aspects of work.

Your Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, human services, social work, or related field preferred, or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in program coordination, purchasing, finance, or operations support (non-profit or human services experience preferred).
  • Strong organizational and financial management skills with attention to detail.
  • Experience managing budgets, processing invoices, and maintaining financial records.
  • Commitment to trauma-informed and culturally responsive practices.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and database management systems.
  • Bilingual skills preferred but not required (Spanish, French, Haitian Creole, Mandarin, or other languages commonly spoken in NYC).
  • Commitment to social justice, equity, and anti-oppression.
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities with timeliness and accuracy.
  • Cultural humility and sensitivity when engaging with diverse communities.
  • Dedication to survivor choice, autonomy, and confidentiality.
